"The American Rifleman: Born of Armed Rebellion"

A good primer on becoming a rifleman with lots of good info on technique and training, gear selection, history and relevance to modern times. It's everything a new shooter needs to get going. Reid Heinrich also has a pistol book.

"Pistolcraft: Forging Past and Present"

These books are not tactical how to manuals , they are much more basic but solid none the less. Reids background according to his bio is a few years as a Marine, some years as a cop and a masters in history, all of it shows in his writing too. These are probably my favorite general how to shoot books. Towards the end of the book he included interviews with real BTDT types such as Paul Howe, it's really just icing on the cake TBH.
