BBC -John McAfee: Anti-virus creator found dead in prison cell (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-57589822)

Anti-virus software entrepreneur John McAfee has been found dead in a Barcelona prison cell, just hours after a Spanish court agreed to extradite him to the US to face tax evasion charges.

The Catalan Justice Department said prison medics tried to resuscitate him, but were not successful. It said in a statement that "everything indicates" Mr McAfee took his own life.

A controversial figure, Mr McAfee's company released the first commercial anti-virus software. It helped to spark a multi-billion dollar industry in the computer world.

Hi there. I've been away from the ZS forums for quite some time due to health issues. And now I have a little zombie hunter that takes my time.
Anyway, I heard that the forums were going to read only & I figured I would see if it was possible to get TEC9man into the memorial section.

Hi there. I've been away from the ZS forums for quite some time due to health issues. And now I have a little zombie hunter that takes my time.
Anyway, I heard that the forums were going to read only & I figured I would see if it was possible to get TEC9man into the memorial section.

He was a member of ZSC:020, but had been a member of the ZS forums since 2005.
He had a great sense of humor & stayed positive throughout all of his health struggles, which he posted about frequently. He also used to post movie reviews that people seemed to like.

This is his memorial info from a Chapter 20 thread:
"Post Mon Dec 18, 2017 7:25 pm

Services for TEC9man will be this Wednesday evening.
http://www.strangfh.com/obituary/randall-weiss

He even had a ZS emblem on his memorial table at his memorial service. He passed away in 2017, but there was no forum memorial section at that time.

Thank you for listening. I know this is last minute, but figured it was worth a shot. Feel free to use the link to his obituary if he is able to get to the memorial section.
Thanks,
-CZ / Lisa

Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was assassinated and First Lady Martine Moïse was shot in an attack on his private residence early Wednesday, according to a statement from the country's interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph said.

He joins a surprisingly long list Haitian leaders who met an unpleasant end.
Note I say leaders because Haiti has had at least one king, two emperors, several dictators, Presidents for life and elected leaders. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_heads_of_state_of_Haiti)  Haiti's history has included a revolution, an invasion and enslavement of its neighbors of the (now) Dominican Republic, the subsequent Dominican War of Independence followed by a lot internal strife within Haiti.

BTW the fact that the gunmen involved spoke Spanish may indicate to some that they were from the Dominican Republic but who knows. There is a long history of animosity there.

If for some reason a person wants to experience a true PAW suggest they go to Haiti for week. Don't stay in Port Au Prince but go by ground transport to Belladere, Cap Haitian or Gonaives. It will be an eye opening experience.

She stated he did not die in his sleep like originally reported. He woke her up in the middle of the night and they were just talking about stuff, he stopped talking and  just like that was gone.

Y'all might see a trend with many of the names I add to this sad thread. I grew up watching wrestling in the late 80s, 90s, and very early 00s. I still watch the old stuff and to me it is more entertaining than almost any movie or TV show out today. With that said, the latest one of the greats to pass was "beautiful" Bobby Eaton. He was 62.

I was a big WWF (back before they became WWE) fan when I was a kid and even got to go to a couple house shows. That was a big deal for me as my family didn't have a lot of money and being able to afford even the cheap seats was something I was grateful for.

I used to switch back and forth between WWF and WCW on Monday nights. I had my favorites in either promotion (Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin in WWF and Hulk Hogan and Goldberg in WCW) and I'd drop everything to watch the shows.

I'll catch myself watching old matches on YouTube from time to time and I'll agree they're a lot more entertaining than a lot of stuff on TV nowadays.

This should be getting more media attention than any celebrity we lost this last year.

Listening to Dan Carlin's Supernova in the East series this last year really impressed on me how little most Americans (myself included) know about even our very recent history.

I always knew the Pacific campaign was hard fought, but I truly had no clue. I probably still have no clue.

Richard Trumka, president of the powerful AFL-CIO labor organization, has died unexpectedly, four sources confirmed to POLITICO...

...He died of what was believed to be a heart attack, a source familiar with the matter said. It was unclear when exactly it occurred, though it's believed to be either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.

Is it unclear because his body is still encased in cement? They have not been able to raise his body from the bottom of the river because of the weight of his overshoes? Or they have not been able to do an autopsy properly because of amount of bullet holes?

EW - Sonny Chiba, martial arts master and Kill Bill actor, dies at 82 (https://ew.com/movies/sonny-chiba-dead-martial-arts-master-kill-bill-actor-dies-82/)

Sinichi "Sonny" Chiba, one of the first Japanese actors to gain international fame through his martial arts skills, died Thursday of complications from COVID-19. He was 82.

...Chiba was a gifted athlete in high school and college. It was at Nippon Sport Science University that Chiba began studying karate, earning his first-degree black belt in 1957. His study would continue after that, leading to his fourth-degree black belt in 1984. He also earned black belts in other martial arts disciplines like ninjutsu, shorinji kempo, judo, kendo, and goju-ryu karate.

...Chiba appeared in dozens of action films and TV shows over the subsequent decades, including a series called Shadow Warriors in which he played multiple generations of ninja characters each named Hattori Hanzo. Chiba reprised that role in Quentin Tarantino's 2003 film Kill Bill, in which Hanzo runs a sushi restaurant and crafts a special samurai sword for Uma Thurman's vengeful lead character.

Charlie Watts,

the Rolling Stones' drummer since the legendary rock group formed, has died at age 80, according to his London publicist, Bernard Doherty.

Doherty announced in a statement Tuesday morning: "It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Charlie Watts. He passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family. Charlie was a cherished husband, father and grandfather and also as a member of the Rolling Stones one of the greatest drummers of his generation. We kindly request that the privacy of his family, band members and close friends is respected at this difficult time." The statement was later shared by the Stones' official Twitter account.

My father was a US Army Lt in ww-2 in the ETO. He was attached to the 42nd Division and was engaged in that conflict from the day they first landed until well after the war's end.

The level of sacrifice and heroism by this generation at home and in the PTO and ETO was amazing. There is a reason they are called the greatest generation.

From complications of Covid

And multiple myeloma, a blood cancer that destroys the body's ability to fight infection.

A lazy google search tells me his Parkinson's was likely a major factor of his death as well.

I'm a little disturbed to see a lot of simplistic headlines in the media saying he died of covid while vaccinated. I'm concerned that will only add fuel to the politicizing of medical practices. While there were a few times I strongly disagreed with Powell, I believe he sincerely dedicated his life to serving others. I hope my cynicism is unwarranted and nobody succeeds in using his passing (or the poor quality of media coverage on his passing) to amplify conflict or to argue vaccines don't work.

A friend died in 2020 he was in stage 4 pancreatic cancer and had a DNR order on his chart in 2019. In case you do not know that means a painful death was 99% likely within 6 months.  He contracted COVID and died. The cause of death was listed as COVID. The pancreatic cancer was not even listed as an underlying issue on the death certificate.

So yes people see COVID and ignore the underlying issues.

This is true. The original article I read about his passing   (and the reason I posted that he died from covid ) never mentioned any underlying health conditions. Just  that he died from complications of covid
