It seems that hardly a day passes that the media reports on the insidious climate change coming to take you and your loved ones to an early grave. Not really interested in getting into a discussion on climate change, merely the various ways to prepare for all the reported scary possible outcomes, because geez, there is no point in being afraid all the time... I suppose, unless there is a reason to be...

As new ones appear (or older ones if you want to discuss) feel free to post them here for preparation.

In this scenario Massive Tsunamis from falling ice shelf in Antarctica will kill us all. Sorry in advance. I guess move away from the Southern Coast?

This one is actually in process. The East Africa Drought is attributed to Climate Change.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2023/04/27/climate-change-drought-east-africa/

QuoteRising global temperatures — largely from the burning of fossil fuels — have disrupted the weather patterns that typically bring rainfall to Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia, the scientists found. Last fall, the once-dependable rains failed for a record-setting fifth season in a row. Hotter conditions have also caused more moisture to evaporate from the landscape, desiccating croplands and causing millions of livestock to starve.

Lets see Flood, drought, migration of animal species not normally  found in an area. Viral and fungal disease becoming more prevalent due to rising temps. There was one forecast that if the mean average temperature reached a certain level , vast portions of the globe would become uninhabitable due  to humidity levels beyond the point humans could breathe.   Que Sera, Sera

And in the death
As the last few corpses lay rotting on the slimy thoroughfare
The shutters lifted in inches in Temperance Building
High on Poacher's Hill
And red mutant eyes gaze down on Hunger City
No more big wheels

Fleas the size of rats sucked on rats the size of cats
And ten thousand peoploids split into small tribes
Coveting the highest of the sterile skyscrapers
Like packs of dogs assaulting the glass fronts of Love-Me Avenue
Ripping and rewrapping mink and shiny silver fox, now legwarmers
Family badge of sapphire and cracked emerald
Any day now
The Year of the Diamond Dogs

I Don't know of you ever read The Waters of Deadmoon, It was a graphic novel series in French that was also translated and published in Heavy Metal Magazine by Phillipe Adamov. I wish they would reprint it.

Typical French, it was a simplified deep dive into class warfare, competition for resources, man's tax on the Earth and the hopeless absurdity of life. Most of the art was heavily inspired by Paris and French architecture in a romanticized way and were gorgeously, devastating beautiful like a French Model who has dived too deeply into heroin.  It remains influential 25 years later, unusual for graphic novels.

"Not everyone is panicking"

Here there is the suggestion that diminished rainfall in Central America will cause the Panama Canal to be less useful for shipping. If the PC were no longer viable then several things would happen; The Government of Panama would fall as the bulk of the economy evolves around the canal. The economy would fall apart and a probable revolt in the country.

Will climate change cut off the Panama Canal, and global supply chains? (msn.com)

The article fails to mention the 2016 completed expansion of the Canal that diverted massive amounts of fresh water into the canal to allow for a much heavier traffic flow. At the time it was suggested that the El Nino effects might cause water shortages but these warnings were either overlooked or down played at the time. A voter referendum was held and 77% supported the expansion... because money. I can't say I blame them any, the economy has seen many positive effects at the cost of the environment.

Another article on the Colorado. This is not so much climate change as it is overuse.

Stopping Climate Change will also cause Climate Change, make it worse in short term

https://thehill.com/policy/equilibrium-sustainability/4028811-climate-paradox-emission-cuts-could-unmask-deadly-face-of-climate-change-scientists-warn/

Hansen is one of the big grandpas of climate change science. He argues here that 2020 showed us that the change is happening faster than was realized as smog and particulates were masking the effect,  helping to keep the planet cooler. Without those emissions we will likely see a huge increase in global temperatures.

Climate Crisis Is on Track to Push One-Third of Humanity Out of Its Most Livable Environment (msn.com)

QuoteClimate change is remapping where humans can exist on the planet. As optimum conditions shift away from the equator and toward the poles, more than 600 million people have already been stranded outside of a crucial environmental niche that scientists say best supports life. By late this century, according to a study published last month in the journal Nature Sustainability, 3 to 6 billion people, or between a third and a half of humanity, could be trapped outside of that zone, facing extreme heat, food scarcity and higher death rates, unless emissions are sharply curtailed or mass migration is accommodated.
