I intend to take a trip THE JACK REACHER STYLE, I repeat, I will not try to BE A JACK REACHER, I will take a trip THE JACK REACHER STYLE and that will be limited to simply traveling with THE MINIMUM POSSIBLE and this trip will be by bus. Therefore, it is obvious that I would not be able to travel with just the clothes on my back, an ATM card, a toothbrush and an ID.

What I ask you is, what suggestions for items to take on a trip like this do you have?

Mainly, do you have any suggestions for a good and cheap backpack where these items fit? (15 liters are enough I think).

As a rule, I will cherish cheap and easily replaceable items, perhaps the exception is the flashlight and the phone which are not cheap.

The trip will take approximately 30 days in a warm climate and I will be staying in cheap hotels, that is, without the cold and so far, I plan on taking:

1)Clothes (in addition to the clothes I will wear - T-shirt, pants, comfortable boots, belt, underwear and socks):

a) 2 extra pieces of underwear;
b) 2 extra pairs of socks;
c) 1 shirt;
d) 1 extra t-shirt;
e) 1 extra pants;
f) 1 pair of slippers;
g) 1 shorts.

2) Hygiene and Medics:

a) Toothbrush;
b) Dental Floss;
c) A small tube of Toothpaste;
d) 2-3 bars of little Hotel/Motel soap;
e) Eye Drops (I take them because I am very allergic to my eyes);
f) A single blister of Ibuprofen (with 3 pills);
g) A blister of fexofenadine;
h) 5oz Philips Milk of Magnesia (I used for deodorant AND digestion problems);
i) Small nail clippers;
j) 5-6 band-aids;
k) Small plastic comb.

3) Other stuff:

a) Handkerchief;
b) Casio DW5600
c) Surefire Titan Plus + 3 extra AAA batteries;
d) SAK Super Tinker;
e) Bic lighter in a kydex holster;
f) Bic Pen;
h) Wallet with cards and money;
i) Phone and charger;
j) Sunglasses (RayBan Justin);
k) Small headphones (wired, cheap);
l) Gerber Mullet (Bic lighter, SAK and flashlight will be hanged on it).

Why can't you just take  "the clothes on my back, an ATM card, a toothbrush and an ID."?

I liked his idea of stopping at thrift stores to get the next days clothing.

He was shirtless when he was 'washing his shirt' in the movie. So probably no spare underwear, shirt, etc. That would be cool if you could do that. Just need to plan ahead with the thrift shops locations.

How far are you going in 30 days?

@Moab keeps posting sales on the backpacks in the bargains threads. Primary arms had one for $19 and another for $24.

I would consider taking a thumbdrive with all your important docs scanned. ID, passport, insurance etc. Copy of it on your phone too.

I would consider at least a lightweight rain jacket. It will block wind, keep you kind of warm and be rain proof. On foot you can't always deoend on being out of the elements.

As far as a pack. Its expensive but I would strongly suggest the 5.11 Rush 12. Its bulletproof and has excellent organization. Either way I would stick with 500d cordura. Just because that's your only bag. And your on a long trip.

Also just do searches on top ten 30L backpacks. Or whatever size you wish to carry. You will get less expensive options.

Other brands I would consider is Spec-ops Brand, LAPG (Los Angeles Police Gear). LAPG has their own brand. That are kind of 5.11 copies. Made of lighter material. But its still like school backpack type material.

Because I don't want to have such difficulties as he did, so I said as little as possible what I thought were the items mentioned. And there is still the question of hygiene, which is very important to me.

I didn't calculate the distance and went more in time but I'll go a long way, remembering that this is a trip in Brazil, not in the United States. Based on this premise, Brazilian facilities (washing clothes, eating facilities and cheap hotels/motels) are not as great as those in the USA.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will consider Sped-ops.

Spec ops has a huge sale usually around this time of year. Also check ebay etc for used. These packs are overbuilt and bombproof. I would not hesitate buying a used one.

Another option is buying military surplus and dyeing the sh*t out of it. Specifically molle ii assault pack (in acu or multicam) or filbe assault pack. The latter is tan. But either could be dyed black very easily with rit dye. Many tutorials in the pack section here and on youtube. Most are trying to get a ranger green or other green camo color out of this process. But black dye will dye just about anything. Its pretty foolproof.

Interesting. I would not have thought that. I would have thought there were plenty of cheap places to stay and eat. But I have only traveled as far south as central America. Guatemala, Belize, and of course Mexico.
