Is there a "go to first 'unread' comment" button on each thread?  If so, I'm not seeing it.

Also, is there some kind of alert when you are quoted?
Finally, can you "tag" others to alert them to a post - like @NT2C ?

If there's new comments then there's an orange NEW tag on the topic.  Click on the tag.


No idea about the other two questions outside of the PM (conversations) area where you can add people to a conversation.  You do have a "Notifications" area in your setting that may have other options but I've not looked.

The mod package download at the first post has not been updated since May 2014 (ie, almost 7 years ago) so you'll need to read through all the posts in this topic and apply the fixes/changes you want/need.

Just the [new] button works, similar to the [first unread] - I hadn't noticed it; nor had I seen the two on upper left "show unread since last visit" & "new replies to your post"... we good here.

I found the notifications section on my profile. Does notification mean an email is sent? Or does it mean I get a notification on the forum website?

Notifications within the forum would be cool. Notifications as email would be clutter to me.

I had the same issue on a post I made,  but if you open it up to edit, everything looks normal.  Seems to be an issue with the hyperlink to an offsite location.   I think the board is automatically doing a preview maybe???

Seems like it's something about Amazon product links.  The weirder bit is that they work fine in post previews.

We'll see what we can turn up.

The issue is that we use a modification to the basic system called the Auto Media Mod.  What it's supposed to do is look for "media" links (there's a list of about 40 types) in posts and then actually retrieve material from the site.  For example, putting up the actual YouTube video instead of a link.  With Amazon links it's supposed to be showing a little Amazon blurb about the product, including the picture.  Instead, it obscures the link and posts a dead Amazon image link.  I've contacted the author of the mod (we paid $15 for it) and after trying to troubleshoot the issue the best he can come up with is that it's an issue in how our server is trying to retrieve the material from Amazon.  Since we're currently on a shared server and not the VPS that I used to have, I cannot control that bit of (mis)communication.  Best I can do is either turn the mod off for Amazon links, or set it to put a text link below.  For now I've turned it off.

Oh, the mod creator offered us a full refund which I declined since it's a problem with our server, not their software.

Come to think of it, I remember seeing a thread, can't remember which thread any more, where other than the initial post, the option wasn't there.

Sometimes, but only sometimes, the thumb icons don't render for me and all I get is a narrow box across the screen where they should be.
