Got my Sofirn SR12 that I won on Reddit in the mail today.  It's one of their marketing demo units, not yet for sale, and pretty darn sweet.  It has simple controls, and really nice grip area on the body, 1450 max lumens and a 396m throw, yet still has decent illumination around the center hot spot.

I meant to post a picture of the box yesterday, but I got sidetracked sending out Christmas packages.  Then this morning we had light fog so, what better time for some beam shots?  :awesome:

(believe it or not, that's "moonlight mode")

(low)

(high)

(turbo)

Hard to believe that's only ~1,400lm!  Note the beam pattern with the two distinct light cones.  (shed is about 190' away)

Ok so  i remembered someone on here talk about Wuben flashlights and i remembered someone is into the Rovy Von flashlights so i did some so looking on ol' Amazon. I remember I saw one had the spin head that's straight or 90 degree. The magnet one stick to vehicle to work on.. Also i like low cost, but decent.

Found this which i think may be good to keep in the vehicles or EDC. Wuben G2 rechargeable and magnetic base 500 lumens. Come with pocket clip , but don't say water resistant/proof. $24 bucks USD

Rovy Von Angle Eyes E8, has front light 700 lumen and 3 side lights Red,White,UV built in rechargeable Li-PO and use AAA, IPX 6 water resistant. $48 bucks USD  Rovy Vos has others like this with less features for a little cheaper. Does anyone use/keep any low lumen lights?

I keep low lumen lights for closeup work or searching for stuff in low light conditions; in drawers and under desks and stuff for example.

IME using high lumen light for closeup work [benchtop or close in low light conditions] the splash can blind me. So a I have headlamps, handhelds, and keychain lights that are from 127 lm and lower for that. And I have multi-color for when I'm navigating at night and don't really want to completely kill my night vision that much. red and blue @ 127 lm.

I'll use a high lumen light outside in the sun to light the engine bay in my cars though.

My EDC light (ThruNite Saber) has a low setting around 235 lumens.  I used to carry a Coast penlight that was probably around 90 lumens, which was decent for low light conditions, but that was about it.  This one has been much more useful for me, so far.

I have a Victorinox Midnight Manager on my keychain that has a low lumen( IDK 10) light built in. I use it for a lot really. Then got the pocket flashlight that's 200 lumens for the more light option.

Welll...  This bad boy is currently 20% off, so a mere $599.96, but for that you do get about 16x the lumens and 66% more fans.  :awesome:

And yeah, don't think for a minute that I'm not tempted but I can only spare about $200 this month.  :(

That is an impressive light, no doubt about it, but I've heard you have to be careful about getting proton torpedoes in the thermal exhaust port.   :icon_crazy:

Anyone happen to know what size battery the little light on a CRKT Guppie tool uses ?

I'm seeing conflicting opinions that it's a CR927 and that an LR44 battery will work as they're supposedly the same thing.

Clearly they're not because I just tried to use one in the Guppie light and it won't fit. So either the Guppie light isn't a CR927 or I'm a dumbass (which may be the actual case here.)

Two different battery chemistries and voltages there, Chimp.

CR927 are 3.0v manganese-dioxide and LR927 are 1.5v alkaline.  BR927 will work though, so will DL927

I kind of figured there was something off here. The LR44 batteries I've got are a bit larger than the spot for the CR927 in the Guppie light.

Guess I'm looking for CR927s the next time I go to Walmart or Tractor Supply.

Probably be easier to get some off Amazon when I make an order next month.

Y'all remember that Perrini flashlight I scored at a local thrift store for like 2 bucks ?

Well, it seems like I may have wasted 2 bucks on it. I go to check on it today and the LED bulb seems to be on it's way out. I thought it may have been the batteries at first, but I checked several different ones including a couple 18650s I've got.

All the batteries were fresh and yet the light still flickered. So this leads me to believe it's the light itself.

And I can't find anything online about the light itself. I found a single listing for it and it's on a Chinese site that looks like malware central.

I should've figured the light would be a bust since the box it came in looked like David Beckham and Vinnie Jones got ahold of it.

12_Gauge_Chimp

Well, my Perrini flashlight is kaput.

Did a field strip on it and the little board with the wires leading to the bulb came off it. So the light is toast.

I did manage to salvage a couple bits from it, though. Namely the lanyard and the little adapter bit for AAA batteries.

I guess this'll teach me to buy flashlights from the thrift store. If I do that again, I'll be a bit more thorough on my research of the brand.
