When you get in your car the thermometer says 92, but you think 'at least its not 97' and must be low humidity for it to feel so mild out.

Run to the bank and HomeDepot with your windows down and check your weather app to see why it feels so nice, and then realize its saying its 67% humidity and feels like 98 degrees.

Hope its nice like this tomorrow when I'm doing the yard.

That would trigger a heat advisory here in Maine.

Currently 66 deg F, 91% humidity. I noticed it felt a bit muggy on my lunchtime walk.

I was ROTFL when Ireland had that heat advisory a few weeks ago and said it would have daily highs of 78 and folks should shelter in place and hydrate.  :rolleyes1:  It doesn't get down to daily highs of <78 here until November.

@majorhavoc that's a heat index of 67 degrees, I'd be wearing a jacket.

Finally gave in and turned on the heat at the new place. It was 58F inside and 34F outside yesterday. Last place was hot as hell in the summer, but never got below 71F indoors in winter. Only time I turned on the heat was when my aunt complained.

We turned on our heat for the first time in a year a couple of weeks ago. It's electric and uses heating coils which get covered in dust running the a/c, so its good to run the heat at least for a couple of minutes once a year to burn the dust off the coils. If it gets below 65 in the house we have an opportunity window to do that [don't always do it]. But has to be cold two days in a row as the house retains heat for the first day of cold weather.

This morning and tomorrow morning its supposed to get down into the high 40's.

The BMW looks like it had a really bad case of acne thanks to the hail. The dings are hard to see in photos but they're spaced about 10-12" apart on the roof, hood, and trunk. A whole bunch of roofers are rolling thru the neighborhood like vultures.

I keep a couple of moving pads in the back of the Jeep to be used as hail protection on the glass roof and the hood.  For the windshield I have a type of cover used for snow and that will help with hail too.

@NT2C How would you anchor them? when we get hail in florida its usually really windy and until the pad gets soaking wet or even after it is it could blow off. This was the largest hail I've ever seen here and I've lived in florida my whole life. Wet towels maybe also, being wet maybe they don't blow off? not sure how much wind it would take to blow them off. Some of those moving blankets these days are nylon and don't absorb water fast, cotton ones would.

I was also thinking, put carboard sheets [I have big sheets I save to put down on the ground when working on my cars] on the roof, trunk and hood, and then hold them down by either a blue tarp bungeed or I have a car cover, but its for the Monte Carlo, and that'd have to be bungeed also. Tarp has bungee grommet holes.

It's just that we had no hail warning and so once it started it would have been dangerous to go out in it to cover the car during the storm. So you kind of have to know in advance to armor up, any hail that's not dangerous to people won't hurt the cars. That's the kind we normally get, on the rare occasion that we get it in my AO.

I'm torn between calling my insurance or buying a PDR kit.

On the Jeep I just toss them on and hook a elastic cargo net to the roof rails. You could try closing doors on the ends or corners.

Wow, insurance adj advised $7k-8000 in damage to the BMW, the car is only worth ~$3500. So Totaled in their eyes. So we closed the claim. There was another option to have them pay us the Totaled value and we keep the car with a 'salvage title'. I'm not sure if that's a good option. Looks I'm going to become a PDR expert shortly. Fully tooled up.   :rolleyes1:

I have damaged roof shingles and a busted skylight on my house also. New Roof?

It's 70°F right now, but the high is supposed to be around 85°F later today.

Around the weekend, it's supposed to be closer to 90°F.
