I'm more than a little annoyed that Olight came out with this version of their excellent Baton 3 mere days before coming out with the Baton 3 Pro Max, with nothing said beforehand.  If I had known it was coming out a week after I bought this I would have waited and gotten the Max version.  Still, this version does have a lot going for it and is a nice little light in its own right.

As my beam shot below shows, it's a good all-around light with good CRI a decent throw and wide splash lighting.

There are two things that make this light a no-go for me so far as an EDC pocket light though.  The first is that magnetic charging base. I carry a ton of stuff in my pockets.  Metal stuff, like keys and coins.  I really don't trust this thing to not short and do something unexpected if it contacts some of those items.  The second issue is that on/off switch that's oh so easy to activate.  While it does have a lockout mode to prevent unintended activation, exit the lockout mode is done with a short little click/hold which is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen Olight do on a light.  I mean, seriously, some engineer actually thought, "We want to make sure it doesn't light in your pocket if something presses against it, so we'll put a lockout on it and make it easy to exit the lockout by just pressing against it."  Yeah, those two things make this worthless as an EDC light IMHO.  It's still a nice light for around the house though, just not good for its intended purpose.
