Some time ago (it´s only been a year or two) I mentioned the fallout shelter my parents had build in their home during the cold war.
Sadly I don´t have all the information on it, however some useful things I did find.
The room is designed as a fallout shelter, and not meant to take a direct hit. My parents live close to a nuclear power plant just outside the evacuation radius, so this is it´s primary reason. The plans are from around 85, so might be outdated.

Abnormalities to regular buildings are:
The ceiling is 40cm reinforced concrete instead of the regular 20cm (I´ve seen some buildings that only use 15cm as well). I can´t say how much of this is due to the shelter or the heavy machinery standing above it.
The floor is 30cm reinforced concrete instead of 20cm, with a thin layer of unreinforced concrete (Sauberkeitsschicht, no idea what that is in english) and soil underneath.
The outside walls are 30cm instead of 20-24cm like you´d expect. These border on a solid wall (around 60cm) with soil on the other side.
Sadly I can´t say anything regarding the concrete type used. I have been told that there is more reinforcement than usual, but unless I find more detailed drawings there is no way to tell.

Offsets towards outside elements: all elements leading outside have a right angled offset planned in to protect agains blasts. This includes the airlock (?) and any air exhausts. The air exhausts have special filters build in. The doors are gas tight with pressure reinforcements.

The ventilation unit has a direct air supply to the outside that can be shut off. The filtered air comes from a hand-cranked ventilation unit that filters the air through 1m of sand. We tried the air filtration out in the past. Even with a fully stocked shelter I wouldn´t want to have to crank it for more than a day taking turns. I can do maybe half an hour. So for realistic use something electricity powered with a pedal powered backup and hand crank as only the last solution might be more feasible.

There is an emergency exit behind a gas tight door and unreinforced concrete blocks that leads outside in case the door gets blocked. There is reinforced concrete tunnel that leads to outside the debris zone (1/3rd of eave height) in case the house collapses. In order to access the tunnel you need to dig through the concrete blocks. I have been told there is a lead plate behind.
